Winter Workshops:
Suggested donation for a workshop is $25. We offer a 5 workshop punch card for $100 . Also we accept Onion River Exchange hours. We can accommodate about 6 students per class. An average workshop will run for 2 hours. Classes are instructional, hands on and question & answer. We’ll provide materials to work with, unless specified otherwise. All the workshops will be held on Thursdays at 6pm( please check the dates) at the Magic Wheel in Barre.

December 8th -Winter Training:
Keeping yourself fit for the upcoming cycling season. Various indoor and outdoor exercises specific to cycling. Introduction to indoor trainers and targeting specific areas.

December 15th – Winter Riding and Winterizing:
How to winterize your bike (best lubes for cold temperature, fenders, frames, tires, lights). Choose appropriate riding gear. Tips for riding on the winter roads and trails.

January 5th – Bike Basics for Women Part 1:
Understanding “dude” talk. Introduction to basic bike functions and terminology. Tools needed for basic adjustments.

January 12th -ABC Bike Check
Air, Brakes, Chain and Cranks; basics to begin any ride safely. This workshop includes air pressure and tire check, basic brake adjustments, chain & crank lube and wear. Safety checks before you ride.

January 19th – Bike Basics for Women Part 2:
Wheels, Brakes, Chain & Cranks; basics to begin any ride safely. Learn how to be empowered and not intimidated by your bike before and during the ride or the race. How to change and repair tubes. Roadside survival skills. Patches, pumps, valve stem identification, pinch flats, tire wear, air cartridge repair kits.

January 26th “Wheels of fortune”:
Learn how to repair and maintain your bike wheels- selecting and changing tires/inner tubes. Installing wheels in the frame. Bearing adjustment. Truing wheels and replacing spokes.

February 2nd – Bike Mechanics for Women- “Don’t rub on me”:
What is this rubbing noise? How to diagnose different rubbing noises on your bike. Learn how to install and adjust brakes pads, set up brake levers to ultimate performance and center wheels in the frame. How to install a bike chain.

February 9th- ” Headset -Set Ready Go!”:
Learn about different types of headsets. Diagnosing common malfunctions of headsets. Adjusting threaded and non-threaded types of headsets.

February 16th. “Ticket to the Drive Train”:
Introduction to deraileurs, shifters and gear cables. Index shifting systems and their adjustment. Replacing cables and housing.

February 23th- ” Give me a Break”:
Learn about calipers, canti, v-brake, disc brake systems. Diagnosing brake pads wear. Replacement of brake pads, brake cables and brake adjustment. Positioning brake levers-cockpit set up.

March 1st- Conversion To a Tubeless System:
Tubeless systems demystified. Learn how to convert your existing wheels to the tubeless wheels. Have a Hands-on experience of doing it.

March 8th – International Womens Day – Power to the Pedal
Celebrate women of our Community, cycling and peace.

March 15th- Cycling Body and Mind:
Learn how to make cycling stress relieving, rejuvenating healthy life- long passion. Simple diet planning, warm-up technics, breathing and training plans. Learn about the “zone” .

March 22nd- Commuting Safely, Night Rides, Vermont State Laws for Cyclist:
Bike Safety is ever more necessary when riding on roads or in the woods. We’ll cover equipment for visibility for any road riding and safety on technical terrain. Night riding is becoming more popular, we’ll discuss lighting your way and ways to stay visible as well as current VT laws for cyclists.
